Solar asset managers: control your customers' PV fleets remotely — no hardware, no site visits

August 10, 2026

Solar is now the largest source of electricity in Europe, and that is changing what is expected of the people who manage it. Midday oversupply is dragging prices negative, grid codes increasingly require remote curtailment, and every flexibility market you could earn from assumes the same thing: that the fleet can be controlled.

For an asset manager responsible for distributed PV, software control is fast becoming a core capability, because of the many sites that can never be economically retrofitted with batteries or on-site hardware.

Our latest solution, Synergi PV Manager is built to serve the residential and C&I PV segments, where hardware solutions are too costly. By connecting at the inverter manufacturer's cloud, it lets you curtail, ramp and dispatch your customers’ fleet as a single unit remotely — no hardware, no site visits, no change to the physical asset. PV Manager expands what you can do with the fleets you already manage, keeping it compliant with shifting market and grid-code rules while turning it into capacity that can be pre-pooled and traded.

The sections below follow the way you would actually evaluate a new control partner, what it takes to onboard, what you can earn and how, and what you can prove to your asset owners afterwards.

1. Onboarding and connectivity: does it fit the fleet I already have?

The first question for any asset manager is whether a new service fits the fleet as it is: mixed brands, mixed sizes, spread across sites and countries.

PV Manager is OEM-agnostic. It connects to inverters through their manufacturer cloud APIs, so a mixed-brand portfolio behaves as one fleet. SMA, Fronius, Huawei and Sungrow are supported in production today, with further integrations in active development.

Onboarding is remote and credential-based. You bring a site online using the credentials of the relevant OEM cloud account. New sites are added remotely the same way, so growing the connected fleet is a software action, not a hardware deployment project.

For you, that means using PV Manager is low-effort and reversible: connect a handful of  sites, watch them appear as live, controllable assets, and expand from there.

2. Aggregation, control and dispatch: what does it actually earn?

PV Manager bundles the connected plants into a single aggregated signal: a solar sub-pool that can be controlled as one resource and offered into a VPP. Once pooled, your fleets can do two things it cannot do today: avoid negative-price losses by curtailing through surplus windows, and participate in reserve and balancing markets as aggregated, dispatchable capacity.

Synergi aggregates the assets across your customer base, the pooled capacity participates in ancillary services, and the resulting revenue flows back through you to your asset owners on terms agreed per partnership.

3. Reporting and the activity log: what can I prove to owners?

As an asset manager you answer to the owners whose assets you run, so anything that touches their plants has to be auditable. PV Manager is built for that. Synergi maintains and makes available a shared activity log that records, for each authorised site, the date and time of each activation, the type of activation, the requested and delivered curtailment in kilowatts, and a short note where relevant.

That gives you a per-site, per-event record you can hand straight to an owner: what was asked of their plant, what actually happened, and when.

Built with asset managers and European utilities

PV Manager was not built in a vacuum. European utilities have been among the earliest design partners, shaping requirements across multi-brand fleet management and trading-system integration. On the asset-management side, the C&I fleet requirements have been shaped by working with distributed-PV managers — the people who live with mixed-brand portfolios, PPA obligations and owner reporting every day.

If you manage a distributed PV fleet and want to see what it would earn as flexible capacity, without a hardware programme, book a 30-minute demo to walk through PV Manager with your portfolio.
