Over the past few years, tens of thousands of Finnish households have used Synergi to optimise their energy use when electricity is cheapest and the grid needs it most. We're proud of that, and grateful to everyone who has been part of it.
Today I want to tell you about a change in how Synergi will continue to work in Finland, why we're making the change, and what it means for you.
Why we're changing
Synergi’s story began by building a leading smart energy service directly for households, because we wanted to prove that household flexibility works in practice. That is now done: the technology is built and in use, and we have already expanded from households into light industrial flexibility.
The next step is a natural one. Flexibility is best put to use by energy companies and grid operators themselves. As a standalone aggregator, our toolbox would be more limited.
Synergi’s role is to be an enabler and a technical aggregator: we connect flexible loads, pool the flexibility together, and make entirely new business models possible for energy companies and grid operators. To focus on building a profitable business and becoming Europe’s leading technical aggregator, we need to sharpen our focus further. Offering the service directly to households has been truly rewarding, but now we are turning a page as a company and taking a step towards the future.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this. We hope you will continue as part of Synergi’s story through the offerings of our energy company partners.
What's changing
From 1 December 2026, the Synergi app in Finland is available only to customers of our partner energy providers. At launch, our partners are Helen and PKS. We're in discussions with other Finnish energy providers and hope to welcome more partners over time. In the future you can check all the Synergi partners here.
When you sign up, the app will ask which energy provider you have. If you're a customer of a partner, you're in, and nothing else is needed.
If your energy provider isn't a partner
You can use Synergi by switching your electricity contract to a partner provider. Switching is entirely voluntary. For the time being, Helen is offering electricity contracts at a discounted price only to users who want to use Synergi but don't have a Helen or PKS contract. You can see Helen's offers here.
More partners will join in the future. If you lose access now, we might see you later if you provider joins Synergi as partner. In that case, your energy provider will inform you when Synergi becomes a benefit.
What's happening to Smart Rewards
Smart Rewards in Finland, where you earned points for smart charging and redeemed them for rewards is ending as a standalone Synergi feature today. The last day to earn points for smart charging is today, October 29th.
Going forward, rewards will only be offered through our partner energy providers, which lets us build the feature in ways that fit how we work with them.
If you are a current user with unredeemed rewards, no worries, you have time to redeem your points until 30 November, as long as your balance is at least €5. Balances under €5 unfortunately can’t be paid out.
Recap of dates
- 29 October 2026: earning Smart Rewards points ends.
- 30 November 2026: last day to use Synergi and redeem rewards.
- Starting 1 December: devices are disconnected and the app is available to partner customers only
Thank you
To everyone who has used Synergi so far: thank you. Every smart optimisation session you've run has made the Finnish energy system a little more flexible and a little greener. We're building the next phase of Synergi so that we can keep doing that, together with the energy providers who share that goal.

FAQS
Why is Synergi making this change?
Running Synergi costs money for every connected home. In Finland, our commercial partnerships cover those costs and let us keep developing the app. That’s how we can keep Synergi free for our partners’ customers.
Who can use Synergi?
In Finland, anyone from one of our partner energy providers with a supported device and model can use Synergi app. Check compatibility here.
Which energy providers are Synergi partners?
At launch, Helen and PKS. The up-to-date list is here. We're in discussions with other Finnish energy providers and you’ll hear directly from them if they partner with us.
I'm a customer of a partner. Do I need to do anything?
No. If you already use Synergi, it keeps working as it does today. If you're new, download the app, select your energy provider during sign-up and connect your devices.
My energy provider isn't a partner. Can I still use Synergi?
Only by switching your electricity contract to a partner provider. Switching is voluntary. Helen has electricity contact offers for users who want to use Synergi but don't have a Helen contract. See the offers here.
If I switch to a partner provider before 30 November, what happens?
Your Synergi account, your connected devices and your settings stay exactly as they are. Note that smart charging rewards are only available via PKS.
What if I switch to a partner provider after 30 November?
You can come back any time. Download the app, select your energy provider and reconnect your devices.
Is Synergi still free?
Yes. Our partner energy providers pay for the service, so the app stays free for their customers.
Are Smart Rewards still available?
Rewards are not available anymore, only through partner programmes.
Can I still redeem my Smart Rewards points?
Yes, until 30 November 2026, as long as your balance is at least €5.
Do I need to delete my account or disconnect my devices myself?
All devices will be disconnected automatically from 1 December onwards for existing users who are not from partner customers. Your account won’t be deleted but you can do so via the app by heading to the “settings” and clicking “delete account”.
