Solar is the largest source of electricity in Europe, but with almost every panel generating at the same hours, peaking in the middle of the day, the continent produces large volumes of power in the same few hours. That concentration pushes midday prices down, and increasingly below zero.
According to SolarPower Europe, the biggest challenge for the EU's solar fleet today is integrating it into power systems. As experts have pointed out, turning this inflexible base into flexible capacity is key.
One under-explored opportunity is cloud-based control and aggreation through inverter manufacturer APIs. Cloud-based control can address the gap in segments where hardware economics do not work. Since battery storage costs spread more efficiently over more kWh, coupling utility-scale PV with storage is significantly cheaper than doing so in the residential and C&I segments, where asset sizes are smaller per unit.
For the past few years, Synergi has been building the full technology and operations stack for turning small distributed assets into flexibility. PV Manager is the latest product on that stack: a cloud-based solution for controlling and aggregating distributed solar.
What is PV Manager?

Synergi PV Manager is one of the first cloud-based control and aggregation products for solar assets. It allows utilities, DSOs, and asset managers to connect PV assets to the PV Manager portal using OEM cloud credentials, aggregate and pre-pool capacity via Synergi’s VPP engine, and monitor and dispatch their portfolios via API/MQTT from their own trading desk or control system. PV Manager supports SMA, Fronius, Huawei, and Sungrow inverters in production, with other integrations in active development.
PV Manager was developed in collaboration with European utility partners. BKW in Switzerland was among the earliest design partners, contributing operational requirements across multi-brand fleet management, emergency curtailment, and trading system integration.
What are its benefits?
PV Manager gives solar asset owners and operators four capabilities that most distributed PV portfolios lack today:
- Avoid negative-price losses by automatically curtailing production during surplus periods.
- Participate in reserve and flexibility markets with aggregated solar capacity.
- Comply with grid codes and regulatory mandates
- Offer curtailment-as-a-service to your own C&I solar customers.
Who is it for?
- Solar asset managers managing distributed PV portfolios across multiple sites and OEM brands.
- Utility trading desks looking to add solar curtailment to their flexibility portfolio.
- DSOs needing emergency grid control capabilities per grid area and at transformer level.
- Energy companies launching solar-as-a-service offerings.
How does it work?

- Connect assets with OEM cloud credentials: Add all your desired residential and C&I solar assets via OEM portal credentials to the PV manager portal (white-labelled or Synergi-branded) — fully through cloud-to-cloud connections, no hardware needed.
- Aggregate & pre-pool with Synergi VPP: Use Synergi’s virtual power plant (VPP) engine to aggregate and pre-pool your solar fleet as a single signal via API/MQTT.
- Monitor & dispatch portfolio: Control your entire fleet as a single flexible resource with under one minute latencies, enabling you to curtail, ramp, and respond to market signals directly from your trading desk or DSO control system.
